The Story of Cell Alert™

Directing Cell Alert™ toward a non-profit sector started because I kept hearing about numerous African refugees coming here to the Washington D.C. area from many different African countries and for the past 8 years I have read about the terrible suffering in Southern and Western Sudan (Darfur) and I haven't seen much I could do to help the situation beside write about it and start an informational web site about the issue. But I decided to try to help by finding a local group of Sudanese refugees resettled by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees resettlement programme. I began using a program that my business partner developed to locate and facilitate the instant claiming of FREE used computers that are given away on the Internet. So far, I have collected about 30 computers and I've distributed a few to local refugees already. That was the purpose for which Cell Alert™ was born. At the time I told my business partner about how I was using his program, we immediately saw great potential for it in many different charitable ways. We decided that the tremendous potential of Cell Alert™ should be available to the world in order to help as many people as possible to share their excess with others or to meet their own needs. During the beginning of Cell Alert™, a friend who works on behalf of a housing project in Southeast Washington D.C. told me that some of the people she works with have only 1 dresser for a family of 5, and I knew I had to use Cell Alert™ to help them. Since I had nicely furnished entire parts of my house with high quality free items from the Internet, I decided to buy an inexpensive truck and to pick up some nice furnishing items and bring them to others. So far, I have taken 5 truckloads of beds, dressers, tables, futons, bookshelves, chairs, couches, etc. So, if you are in need of something or if you are ready to give back to the many people worse off than you on earth, then Cell Alert™ is for you!
